India have won 20 medals – three gold, seven silver and 10 bronze – at the third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain so far and are 10th in the medal table.
A total of 222 Indian athletes – 119 women and 103 men – are competing for medals across 21 sports at the ongoing Asian Youth Games 2025 in Manama, Bahrain.
The continental event – returning after a 12-year gap since the 2013 edition held in Nanjing, the People’s Republic of China – is the third edition of the Asian Youth Games and is scheduled from October 22 to 31. However, some events got underway on October 19.
Athletics features the largest Indian contingent with 31 athletes, followed by kabaddi (28), handball (16) and boxing (14). Ten Indian athletes each will also be in action in taekwondo, wrestling and weightlifting.
India won 11 medals – five gold, three silver and three bronze – at the inaugural Asian Youth Games held in Singapore in 2009.
The previous edition in Nanjing saw Indian athletes compete under the Olympic flag, and bag 14 medals – three gold, four silver and seven bronze.
At Manama 2025, Khushi, 15, won India’s first medal after clinching a bronze in the girls’ 70kg kurash event. Kanishka Bidhuri and Arvind also won medals in kurash for India.
Ranjana Yadav opened India’s account in athletics with a silver in the girls’ 5000m walk event.
The Indian girls’ kabaddi team registered India’s first gold medal of the competition after beating the Islamic Republic of Iran in the final.

The 2025 Asian Youth Games is also a qualification meet for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal.
Athletes from 45 national federations are competing for a total of 1,677 medals – 505 gold, 503 silver and 669 bronze – at the ongoing Asian Youth Games.
So far, China lead the Asian Youth Games 2025 medals table while India are 10th. China have topped the charts in both previous editions.
