Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, along with officials from the Swimming Federation of India (SFI), on Friday launched the mascot Jalveer and the logo for the upcoming 11th Asian Aquatics Championship Ahmedabad 2025.

The ceremony was attended by Monal Chokshi, Secretary General of SFI, Virendra Nanavati, Senior Vice President of SFI, and Vice Presidents Anil Vyas, Rajkumar Gupta and Anil Khatri.

The 11th edition of the continental event, being hosted in India for the first time, will be held from September 28 to October 11 at the newly constructed Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. Built to Olympic specifications, the venue will welcome more than 30 participating nations across swimming, diving, water polo and artistic swimming.

Speaking on the occasion, Mandaviya said, “This championship marks a historic milestone for Indian aquatics, offering our athletes the opportunity to showcase their talent against the finest in Asia. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Swimming Federation of India and the Government of Gujarat for their joint efforts in bringing this prestigious event to our nation.”

Over 1,000 participants are expected in Gujarat later this month. For Indian swimmers, the championship provides a golden chance to perform in front of a home crowd.

For both Gujarat and India, the championship represents more than just a sporting milestone, it signals ambition and capability on the global stage. Ahmedabad has already positioned itself as a frontrunner in India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games. Successfully delivering an event of this scale will further demonstrate the city’s readiness to host world-class sporting competitions.
