The 30th BWF World Championships will be held in New Delhi, India, from August 17 to 23, 2026, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The global tournament marks the return of the event to India for the first time since 2009.

Indian Contingent
India is set to have at least 10 direct entries across the five disciplines. Key athletes leading the host nation’s charge include:
  • Men’s Singles: Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty
  • Women’s Singles: Former world champion PV Sindhu and Unnati Hooda
  • Men’s Doubles: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (India’s highest-ranked entry)
  • Women’s Doubles: Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand
  • Mixed Doubles: Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto.
International Participation
Defending champions from the previous championships are confirmed to participate, including China’s Shi Yu Qi in Men’s Singles and Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in Women’s Singles. The Republic of Korea’s Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae (Men’s Doubles) and China’s Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning (Women’s Doubles) are also confirmed entries.
