Hero Hockey India League (HIL)

The Hero Hockey India League (HIL) is the premier professional field hockey league in India. The recent 2025–26 season concluded in January 2026, with the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers winning the Men’s title and the SG Pipers claiming the Women’s championship. Player registrations for the upcoming 2027 season are currently open, with the registration window closing on July 24, 2026.
Returning with massive fanfare, the HIL featured both men’s and women’s divisions, attracting top international and domestic talent.
  • Men’s League: Hosted across Chennai, Ranchi, and Bhubaneswar. The opening match took place on January 3 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai, with the knockout phases concluding in Bhubaneswar.
  • Women’s League: Held entirely in Ranchi from late December through early January.
FIH Hockey Pro League 2025-26
India is one of the premier global hosts for the men’s FIH Pro League. 
  • Location: Rourkela served as a major host city, welcoming the world’s best teams from February through June. 
FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026
Hyderabad hosted the prestigious FIH World Cup Qualifiers in March. This highly competitive tournament determined the final teams advancing to the World Cup, drawing passionate fans and international scouts to the city.
National Championships & Domestic Leagues
Hockey India hosted a vast array of domestic competitions, fostering young talent nationwide:
  • 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championships: The sub-junior men’s and women’s championships took place in April, with the women’s event in Ranchi, Jharkhand and the men’s event in Rajgir, Bihar.
  • ASMITA Junior/Sub-Junior Leagues: Tournaments spanning multiple age groups and zones were held across various cities, including Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), and Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh).

The official ⁠Hockey India National Tournaments Calendar features major junior-level events during August:
  • 16th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship: Concluding its run from July 28 to August 8, 2026, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
  • 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship: Scheduled from August 12 to August 23, 2026, taking place in Pune, Maharashtra.
  • 4th Hockey India Junior & Sub-Junior Men Academy Championships (Zone A): Running simultaneously from August 20 to August 30, 2026 (Venue TBC).
